Maintenance Service Scam

We have received reports where residents in the North East were contacted by scammers offering a "Sky maintenance service" under the name of 'Sky Assured'.

⚠️ How the Scam Works

The victim received an unsolicited call on their landline telephone offering a "maintenance service" for their Sky equipment called ‘Sky Assured’ 

The victim was persuaded to agree to the service and made an initial payment of £109. Crucially, they never received any contract or paperwork at this time.

The householder became suspicious and contacted Sky TV directly, Sky confirmed that no such service exists and that the call was a fraud. 

🛡️ How to Protect Yourself

This incident highlights the importance of being cautious about unsolicited calls, especially those requesting payment or personal details.

If you have paid money, contact your bank or credit card provider immediately and report the incident to Police Scotland by calling 101.
